| Description | Higher education, scientific research and technological, cultural and social innovation have become a major stake in the new knowledge-based economy and for the competitiveness of nations, and the nations which invest the most in this field are obviously acquiring best assets for successful development. Thus, the knowledge economy is today the basis of all growth policies conducted in the world, regardless of the level of economic development of the countries. The Abdelmalek Essaâdi University (UAE) was not established until 1989; creation which was preceded by the opening in Tetouan in 1982 of the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, followed in 1986 by the opening in Tangier of the King Fahd Superior School of Translation. It is these establishments which constituted the first nucleus of this university in the Northern Region of Morocco. Other establishments have since emerged or have been attached to the UAE or are under construction |
